Cronos – Halloween Horror Month Movie Spectacular 2013 Day 19

Cronos
Cronos is very far from the typical jump scare horror. Its horror instead comes from a slow build towards the inevitable. I wouldn’t say that it’s predictable, but from early on you suspect what the movie is building towards, and a lot of the tension comes from that feeling of inevitability. It was fun to see a younger Ron Perlman in one of the roles, although not a very likeable one. And there lies my only big problem with Cronos. It lacks any particularly likeable characters. Or interestingly unlikeable ones. The main character starts out sympathetic, but I didn’t feel enough attachment to him to particularly care when that sympathy started to slip away. It was a good movie worth watching, but I don’t feel that there’s anything in it that will make me come back to it.

About Ted Dahlberg

I'm a stoic, a pessimist, a bookworm, a skeptic, and possibly other things which take more than one word to say.
